Jonathan A. Smyth is from Cootehill, County Cavan. Since 2015, he has written ‘Times Past’, a popular history column for The Anglo-Celt newspaper. He has a deep passion for Cavan’s history and among his publications, is the book, Gentleman and Scholar: Thomas James Barron,1903-1992. He is married to Pauline Lynch and they have two boys and a grown-up son. Jonathan works in the Irish Public Library Service.
